Personal Profile

Jin Zhang, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, Southern University of Science and Technology/Shenzhen National Center for Applied Mathematics, graduated from Dalian University of Technology with a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in 2007 and 2010, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Victoria, Canada in 2014. From 2015 to 2018, he worked in the Department of Mathematics of Hong Kong Baptist University and joined Southern University of Science and Technology in early 2019. He is committed to the theoretical and applied research of optimization, and his representative results have been published in Math Program, SIAM J Optim, Math Oper Res, SIAM J Numer Anal, J Mach Learn Res, IEEE Trans Pattern Anal Mach Intell, as well as important and influential optimization, computational mathematics and machine learning journals and conferences such as ICML, NeurIPS, and ICLR. The research results have won the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Operations Research Society of China, the Guangdong Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award, and presided over the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Tianyuan Key and General Projects, the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Youth Project, the Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Talent Training Talent Outstanding Youth Project, and the special project of the Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology "Mathematics and Applied Mathematics".
