Professor Fanghua Lin of Courant Institute visited SUSTech International Center for Mathematics. He delivered a lecture on his recent resolution of an open problem posed by J.L. Lions. The tile of his talk is uniform boundary controllability and homogenization of wave equations.

Professor Dmitri Tymoczko of Princeton University visited SUSTech. He gave a public lecture on the Geometry of Music on March 14, 2019

SUSTech news featured Math Prof. Jana Hertz, the only female Full Professor in Mathematics in Uraguay's history, on the occasion of her joining SUSTech as a full-time faculty member. Her area of research is dynamical system, chaotic dynamical system in particular, a field closely related to weather prediction.

The SUSTech International Center for Mathematics hosted the 2019 International Conference on Algebra. The main organizer of the conference is Fields Medalist Efim Zelmanov. Professor Zelmanov is a member of the US Academy of Sciences, and the Rita L. Atkinson Chair in Mathematics at UC San Diego
